Flood Risk and Sustainable Drainage Systems:

The practice undertakes Flood Risk Assessments for all types of development ranging from individual residential properties  through to large scale residential or mixed-use commercial and industrial developments.

Flooding inundation and overland flows associated with surcharged watercourses, rivers and coastal waters, although natural is becoming and increasing prevalent. Climate change over the next few decades is likely to mean milder, wetter winters and hotter drier summers with subsequent increases in sea levels. These factors will lead to the increased risk of flooding within the lifetime of planned developments.

Most planning applications now require Flood Risk Assessments to be submitted as supporting documentation. L.D.A Ltd will provide a personal service for all flood risk matters associated with individual properties or large scale developments with reporting in compliance with current legislation such as: -

PPS. 1 - Delivering Sustainable Development PPS. 25 - Development and Flood Risk

Surface water drainage systems, developed in line with all other sustainable initiatives for the lifetime of a development, are collectively referred to as Sustainable Drainage Systems. Comprehensive advice on the implementation of SUDs from initial planning and design through to construction and their management in accordance with current Governmental Regulations, Local Authority framework agreements, and Governing Bodies such as CIRIA (The SUDs Manual. C697).

L.D.A Ltd recognises the need for SUDs and also the challenges they propose for UK developers and will design, construct and arrange maintenance of SUDs to mitigate adverse effects of urban storm water run-off on the Environment.

Current projects include:

  • Storm Water detent at Tetron Point, Swadlincote
